Other Events of Interest

Ceiba, a coalition of Latino community development organizations in Eastern North Philadelphia, is looking for tax preparation volunteers to assist them in their work in conjunction with the Campaign for Working Families. On behalf of the Campaign, Ceiba will be offering free tax preparation and Earned Income Tax Credit filing services, opening bank accounts, and providing free credit reports at several community organizations in Eastern North Philadelphia. Last year, the Campaign for Working Families prepared taxes for almost 11,000 people and brought over $15 million into working families' homes in Philadelphia . Volunteers will have to complete a mandatory 2-part training course in order to be certified by the IRS. Beyond that, there is no minimum commitment, and any time people have to offer is a great help. Anyone interested should contact Will Gonzalez or Jake Munger at Ceiba at (215) 634-7245.
