Welcome to HBA of Pennsylvania

The Hispanic Bar Association of Pennsylvania ("HBA") is a professional organization composed of members of the Bar and law students of Hispanic ancestry as well as other interested persons. The HBA was founded to provide a forum for Hispanic and other lawyers who are interested in promoting the social, economic, professional, and educational advancement of Hispanic attorneys, the Hispanic community, and the administration of justice.

Need for Volunteer Tax Preparers

Last year, $30,000 in refunds and tax credits was secured for working families per volunteer. There are few ways that, as a volunteer, you can make a $30,000 impact in the community.

It is also a great personal experience. It gives you perspective to sit across people with great courage and guts. I am still amazed at the single parents who raise three kids on $15,000/ year.

You will recieve good tax training. Filing the returns is almost idiot proff as you use tax software and we file taxes electronically. You are protected from liability by the volunter tax preparation act.

You only need to commit to give 25 hours total for the tax season (January to April). Take advantage of this great opportunity to help people. Last year the effort helped to bring $19.7 million bucks to working families in Philly.
